Kimbolton Wines from Langhorne Creek, South Australia are today run by fifth generation vignerons, Nicole Clark and brother Brad Case. Originally planted in 1911, the vineyards came under Case ownership in 1947, with the first Kimbolton Wine released in 1998.
Each wine in the Kimbolton range is sourced from individual vineyard sites to showcase the sensational Langhorne Creek regional characteristics. Whilst they make wines from classic varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Chardonnay, they are also innovators in the region trialling alternate varietals including Montepulciano, Fiano and Carignan. In fact, they make 3 different Montepulciano’s, the dry red, the Rose, and the Sparkling Montepulciano, aptly named the Bella Monte.
When vintage conditions avail, they make a super-premium range of wines, including The Rifleman Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz from Langhorne Creek, and The Rifleman Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the neighbouring Adelaide Hills region. In extra special years, they make an even more rare icon wine, The L.G. Cabernet Sauvignon, which celebrates Nicole and Brad’s father, Leonard George Case (L.G.) who excelled as both a Rifleman and grapegrower.
In December 2018, the Kimbolton team opened their first cellar door on the house block in Langhorne Creek. The architecturally designed cellar door is made out of re-purposed shipping containers and features modern ply and recycled timber to create an earthy modern setting nestled amongst the gum trees with sweeping views across the family-owned vineyards and the greater Langhorne Creek region.
Visitors to the Kimbolton Cellar Door may choose to partake in carefully crafted seasonal wine and cheese flights showcasing four local artisan cheeses, meticulously paired to suit four of the Kimbolton wines. The wine and cheese pairing concept is something that Nicole is passionate about and has been presenting to customers for numerous years. Having a stunning home to showcase this tantalising experience really adds value to those visiting the Langhorne creek region. The Kimbolton team also present a range of local produce platters, and visitors can experience the upstairs viewing deck for a greater view across the Langhorne Creek region.
