My name is Sue Heward, 4th generation orchardist and food manufacturer. After 28 yrs of career-building off farm, I found myself deeply embedded in the Melbourne rat-race, desperate to share the life I knew as a child with my family. In 2016 we returned to the family orchard in Monash, SA.
Jack Heward (my Poppa) planted our orchard in the 1920's. Today 101 yrs later we harvest 1000 fig, 200 quince, 50 pecan trees, and wine grapes. In 2017 Singing Magpie Produce was launched. We grow and produce premium sun-dried fruit & gourmet goodies for people who care where their food comes from.

Taralee Orchards is a family owned and operated bio-dynamic stonefruit orchard in the Wirrabara Forest. The farm is run by Paul, Raymon and Renae Kretschmer.
Our dried fruit range is all produced on farm. Picking the fruit by hand, slicing the fruits thinly and then packaging the 100% chemical/preservative free solar dried range is all completed by our family and farm workers. Sulphur dried fruit is dried under the summer sun, enhancing the flavour and the vibrant colour of the biodynamically grown fruits.
The orchard is managed with a strong focus on boosting diversity and aims for continual enhancement of soil, tree health and vitality. Each year we strategically plant a variety of fruit and native trees which suit the soil type and topography of the orchard. The Meal Pantry
The Meal Pantry is a collaboration of friends who are also food and beverage managers or chefs.
In March 2020 hospitality venues in Australia were closed to on premise dining as a result of COVID-19.
In the subsequent weeks we found ourselves separated from older family members and friends who had sensibly gone into isolation. Where only the previous week we would prepare and share food for and with them, they were now literally on their own.
At this point we decided to combine our commercial food experience with our home cooking recipes.
We are passionate about food. We have all grown up in households where weekends are spent cooking, entertaining and sharing food.
The Meal Pantry menu has started with our old family recipes, contemporary favourites, and a few takeaway icons.
