Roussanne originated from the Northern Rhone Region in France and is traditionally blended with other varietals (Marsanne and Viognier), but not in our case. We wanted to experiment with the lovely texture and aromas, and we are very excited by our "Off with the Fairies" 2021 Roussanne. Whilst it's not an easy grape to grow and yields poorly, it rewards richly with its wonderful flavours.
With delightful aromas of white peaches, cashews, beeswax and talc, on the palate it's all lemon curd, passionfruit and marzipan. It's slightly "oily" and textural, but bright acid holds the richness of the palate in check.
This is a complex wine and is a wonderful food wine; in fact, Roussanne has been called the "red lovers white ". This wine will hold its own with quite flavoursome and spicy foods. It's a wonderful match with Vietnamese and Thai foods, curries, firm fish, white meats, veal scallopini or just enjoy it with a wonderful cheese platter.
