A blend of two Italian varietals - Montepulciano, which originates from Abruzzo and Nero d'Avola - "black grape of Avola" originally from Sicily, the purists wouldn't blend these two, but we think it works! A 50/50 blend of both varietals, this wine is crafted with grapes grown on our family owned and operated vineyard at Currency Creek on the Fleurieu Peninsula.
A deliciously bold, rustic, spicy red wine, on the nose it's all blueberries whilst on the palate the flavours expand to include cherries, blackberries and plums. A light back of palate taste of tobacco and nutmeg will follow. This is a wine which will work with all seasons and many different cuisines. We slightly chill it in Summer and enjoy it with simple BBQ's and then in Winter we serve it at room temperature with all manner of casseroles, pastas and slow cooked meats. It's a great pizza wine and also works well with cheese, particularly hard, pungent cheeses such as Grana Padano.
This is probably one of the most popular and versatile wines in our range.
