It all begins when Miss Lemon, Hercule Poirot's hideous but efficient secretary, makes three mistakes in one letter. Something, obviously, is very wrong. By dint of careful inquiry Poirot discovers the cause of the trouble. Miss Lemon's sister run a students hostel in Hickory Road, and a series of odd and rather sinister incidents have occurred there lately. Fascinated and uneasy, Poirot find himself involved in a memorable case, during the course of which his worst fears are confirmed.
