Why Adelaide?

The world's only city within a park, Adelaide isn't only one of the most liveable cities in the world, it’s also a great place to visit. Everything is in such close proximity, meaning there's more time to experience Adelaide.

City of Adelaide:

In the heart of Adelaide’s CBD lie many of South Australia’s major arts and cultural institutions, and the majority of them are free to visit! Some of these include the State Library of South Australia, the Adelaide Botanic Gardens, the South Australian Museum, and the Museum of Discovery - Australia’s leading future-focused museum at the University of South Australia, the Art Gallery of South Australia, the Adelaide Festival Centre and Adelaide Zoo. What could be better than taking an afternoon study break at the zoo?

From the heritage city centre to its 4 world-class wine districts, scenic beauty and a thriving food scene there’s no shortage of things to do in Adelaide.  Come with us as we show you the best of the city and surrounds, where to eat, play and stay and a few tips to make your time in this small but fabulous city the best experience possible.

It’s only 30 minutes drive from Adelaide CBD. Port Adelaide has been the gateway to trade and commerce in South Australia and the first contact with South Australia for thousands of emigrants when they arrived by ship. You can visit all the historical buildings along the main road, take a walk along the water and have a coldie at the local pub. If you want some adventure, check out the dolphin sanctuary Kayak tour.

About the tour:

Tours operate within the Adelaide Dolphin Sanctuary which is a hub of marine adventure. You will go on a guided tour through some of SA’s most beautiful waters, enabling you to get up close and personal with one of the ocean's most playful and friendly creatures.

In the sanctuary, visitors can kayak down creeks lined with mangrove forests which have been there for over 10,000 years, it is the ultimate feeding and resting grounds for local dolphins. Paddle past spectacular shipwrecks that have been abandoned from a bygone era and the sanctuary is also home to abundant birdlife and other creatures that make up the intricate ecosystem.

Coffin Bay is just over 7 hours drive from Adelaide, or you can take a short flight to Port Lincoln and drive from there. It’s a perfect destination for a long weekend road trip if you want to get away from the bustling busy city life.

This tour is chilled and relaxed.  You will experience all the beauty of the pure and pristine coastline, but with more time to spot the seals at "The Brothers" islands and slow to enjoy the dolphins if they appear along the way. Surrounded by the Coffin Bay national park on one side and farming land on the other, the tour boat is launched with intimate tables for mingling and has very large windows that can be opened on lovely days to allow you to turn and catch all the action as you motor the approximately 16km out to the oyster lease at the entrance to the Coffin Bay waterway. You will get to see up close the vastness of the prime oyster growing area of the world-famous Coffin Bay oysters. Visit an oyster farm and learn about farming oysters and take the time to pluck fresh ones straight from the ocean to open and enjoy.  You can't get any fresher than that! If you would like to immerse yourself in the experience then the option to walk around in the water on the farm is available in your bathers or waders if you prefer. Your tour guide will be the oyster farmer who will happily share knowledge about oyster farming, its history and local knowledge of the area and explore the Coffin Bay waterways - and each person gets 1 dozen oysters! Yum!

Cost: Starting from $155 per person, children under 4 years old are free of charge. Discount available for Seniors
